Wall Panel MONOCHROME steel, 2005 - 2006

This wall panel is an analytic representation of a part
of the Japanese drumming piece Monochrome, composed by Maki Ishii
and performed by Kodo on traditional Japanese drums.
Each row of rods symbolizes the performance of one of the drummers,
while the rods themselves stand for the beats.
As the viewer passes along the wall panel a vibrating field arises,
expressing a visual equivalence to the subtle shifting
in the rhythms of this drumming piece.
